Advancing Environmental Responsibility: PCB Training for Telasi Representatives

In a significant stride towards sound management of Persistent Organic Pollutants (POPs) and the establishment of PCB-free Electricity Distribution, a training sessions marked a pivotal moments on October 24 and November 3, 2023.

The sessions, were held at the “Telasi” office, as a component of the “Polychlorinated Biphenyls (PCB)-Free Electricity Distribution in Georgia” project. The initiative, funded by the Global Environmental Fund (GEF) and executed in partnership with the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO), focused on introducing legislative changes for the adept management of polychlorinated biphenyls (PCBs).

The training sessions brought together Telasi representatives and experts from the Regional Environmental Centre for the Caucasus (RECC). The collaboration aimed to equip participants, especially those within the dynamic energy sector, with a profound understanding of legislative frameworks and amendments crucial for effective PCB management.

The primary objectives of the meetings were to present a comprehensive spectrum covering both practical and theoretical aspects of legislative frameworks related to PCBs. Tailored guidelines and detailed legislative amendments were crafted specifically for representatives operating within the energy sector. This double-edged approach ensured that participants not only gained theoretical insights into the legal landscape but also received practical guidelines for implementing these changes in their day-to-day operations.

The training sessions marked a significant step towards environmental responsibility within the energy sector. By focusing on both practical and theoretical aspects of legislative changes, the initiative ensures that Telasi representatives are well-informed to contribute to the successful management of PCBs. This collaboration, supported by GEF and UNIDO, exemplifies a collective commitment to achieving PCB-free Electricity Distribution in Georgia.
