Ecoagriculture Framework Concept For Dedoplistskaro Municipality

Within the frames of two project: “Integrated Biodiversity Management, South Caucasus”, IBIS, financed by BMZ and conducted by GIZ, and “Applying Landscape and Sustainable Land Management (L-SLM) for Mitigating Land Degradation and Contributing to Poverty Reduction in Rural Areas (SLMRA)”, financed by Global Environmental Facility (GEF), implemented by United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) executed by Ministry of Environment and Natural Resources Protection of Georgia trough Regional Environmental Centre for Caucasus (RECC), the joint visit was organized in Dedoplistskaro Municipality on March 15, 2017. Dedoplistkaro Municipality is one of the most important agricultural areas of Georgia situated in the Southeast of the country.

IBIS project presented  the concept of Ecoagriculture, managing landscapes specifically to meet three goals simultaneously and sustainably: conserve biodiversity and ecosystem services, provide agricultural products, and support viable livelihoods for local people.

The meeting was attended by the local municipality representatives, farmers and Women’s Initiative Group, who discussed the possibility of Egroagriculture concept realization. The parties agreed that both projects will only cooperate in the aims of implementing abovementioned concept in Dedoplistskaro Municipality.
