Under the GEF 5 project – “Applying Landscape and Sustainable Land Management (L-SLM) for mitigating land degradation and contributing to poverty reduction in rural areas”, the Regional Environmental Centre for the Caucasus (RECC) signed a memorandum in order to support the improvement of spatial-territorial arrangement and land use system of village Arkhiloskalo.
The memorandum was signed by the acting Chair of the National Agency of Public Registry of Ministry of Justice – Mr. Ivane Tsartsidze, the Director of The Regional Environmental Centre for the Caucasus (RECC) – Ms. Sophiko Akhobadze and the Mayor of Dedoplistskharo Municipality – Mr. Nikoloz Janiashvili.
The memorandum of cooperation will help Dedoplistskharo City Hall to implement its authorization and plan the use of municipality property. Alongside with sustainable and effective use of land resources, the cooperation between agencies will help to involve local population in the discussion and problem-solving process.
Within the frames of the memorandum, as a result of the Public Registry, spatial-territorial information related to land plots within the administrative area – land plot maps, plans, land plot categories, existing development and other data will be provided to Dedoplistskharo by the City hall. The City Hall, with the help of the Regional Environmental Centre for the Caucasus (RECC), will prepare a general plan for spatial-territorial development and land use of village Arkhiloskalo.
The memorandum ceremony alongside with the Mayor of Dedoplistskharo Municipality – Mr. Nikoloz Janiashvili was attended by the Chair of the Municipality Board – Mr. Nugzar Papiashvili, Deputy Chair of Municipality Board – Mr. Gocha Samukashvili and the Chief Specialist of the City Hall in relations with International Funds and Non-Governmental Organizations – Ms. Ana Benashvili.
The village Arkhiloskalo of Dedoplistskharo Region is one of the twelve settlements where the National Agency of Public Registry of Ministry of Justice with the support of World Bank is implementing a pilot project for systematic registration of land plots.
