Within the frames of Global Environment Facility project – “Applying Landscape and Sustainable Land Management (L-SLM) for mitigating land degradation and contributing to poverty reduction in rural areas”, the head of the Land Resources and Mining department of the Ministry of Environment and Natural Resources Protection – Nino Chikovani, the Director of The Regional Environmental Centre for the Caucasus (REC Caucasus) – Sophiko Akhobadze and the project Manager – Ketevan Tsereteli, met with the Governor of Gardabani Municipality – Zviad Machabeli.
The aim of the meeting was to introduce the project, exchange information and plan the future cooperation for the project implementation.
Along with identifying various problems of municipality, restoring the windbreaks in order to protect from agricultural land degradation, was highlighted as the main priority. The signing of the memorandum was planned for the future cooperation. The importance of involving farmers and local population in planning and implementation process was emphasized as well.
