Objectives –

The project aims to increase the resilience of irrigation reservoirs in East Georgia, in particular through landscape restoration and watershed management efforts to reduce the rate of soil erosion and land degradation. This involves the preparation of a watershed management and landscape restoration plan for the area upstream and downstream of one target irrigation reservoir located in East Georgia. The activities also include an investigation of soil erosion processes in selected hotspots within the target watershed, to confirm estimated soil erosion dynamics and provide input for the plan, and a capacity building programme to engage with stakeholders and demonstrate the potential opportunities.

The grantee is expected to carry out the following activities:

  •  A soil erosion investigations report;
  •  A watershed management and landscape restoration plan;
  •  Capacity building seminars and workshops.
