REC CAUCASUS

The Regional Environmental Centre for the Caucasus (REC Caucasus) is an independent, non-profit organization, established to assist in solving environmental problems as well as the development of the civic society in the countries of the South Caucasus.

REC Caucasus has a strong capacity to address environmental issues related to Rio Conventions and other international covenants simultaneously at national and regional levels. REC Caucasus has been addressing environmental challenges in the region through the implementation of local and regional initiatives and projects based on a regional platform, strengthened the capacity of technical expertise on the preservation of biodiversity, climate change (mitigation and adaptation), management of transboundary water resources, sustainable management of natural resources, fighting land degradation, disaster risk reduction, sustainable forest management, capacity development, and research learning.

SPECIFIC TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Supporting day-to-day implementation of the project by providing technical and administrative assistance.
    • Supporting the curation of materials and exchange of information within and outside the project, including translating the project materials from English to Georgian and vice versa;
    • Supporting the project in liaison with key stakeholders on the local and national level and preparing information materials for them;
    • Providing technical assistance regarding the preparation and organization of meetings/workshops, including preparation of minutes, and reports in close collaboration with the project team and partners;
    • Following up on meetings/expert missions and workshops by preparing reports, information materials, and further research and analysis;
    • Providing support regarding administrative tasks e.g. billing, tendering, etc. in close coordination with the Project Manager and Project Administrative Assistant;
    • Performing other relevant tasks as assigned by the Project Manager, and Project Administrative Assistant.

QUALIFICATIONS:

The intern suitable for this position should have the following qualifications:
• Education – currently enrolled in or a recent graduate of a Bachelor’s or Master’s program;
• Basic knowledge of climate change issues is strongly desired;
• Self-motivated and available to work under the pressure;
• Excellent communication and networking skills;
• Excellent verbal and writing communication skills in Georgian and English;
• Good working knowledge of Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) (software, email, internet) and computer applications.

WORKING AND REPORTING LANGUAGE(S):

  • English and Georgian.
